CRFFN Fixes Governing Council Elections For June

There are clear indications that the much-delayed elections into the governing council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria‎ (CRFFN) may now hold by the middle of this year.

Feelers from two of the five registered associations indicate that the CRFFN may have also communicated the decision to them.

The first indication came from one of the registered associations; the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), which yesterday‎ directed its members nationwide to update their records and renew their yearly subscription status with the CRFFN.
NAGAFF in the statement, which was sent to Shipping Position Daily also informed its members categorically that the CRFFN governing council election has been scheduled for June, 2015.

In the statement, NAGAFF noted that CRFFN is poised to de-register non-compliant professional freight forwarders and undertake raiding of all the international frontiers to get rid of quacks and illegal operators.

"In this regards, the joint task force headed by the CRFFN Enforcement Unit, has been deployed to the port and shall commence enforcement shortly. Note that, all the accredited associations has endorsed this action" NAGAFF stated.

On its part, the Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (AREFFN‎) has also expressed its readiness and corporation, even as the Council is now set to conduct the long awaited elections.
President of AREFFN confirmed to Shipping Position Daily yesterday that the five associations had at a recent meeting declared their support for the regulatory body on the coming elections.

Ukor confirmed to our correspondent that "the Council has said that election will hold this year 2015, precisely about the second quarter of the year".http://shippingposition.com.ng/article/crffn-fixes-governing-council-elections-june
