EFCC Invites Tompolo Over N13b NIMASA Land Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission yesterday invited former Niger Delta warlord, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, over a N13 billion land scam involving the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.
The EFCC gave the former Niger Delta militant leader one week to appear before them or be declared a wanted man.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Head of Operations at the EFCC, Iliasu Kwabai, recalled  that Tompolo had earlier been invited to appear before the Commission in November, but he never showed.
Tompolo is now expected to appear at the EFCC facilities on Thursday, December 17th.
The land was meant for the construction of a university by NIMASA.
The EFCC had in July arrested the immediate past Director General of NIMASA, Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi, two weeks after he was fired by President Muhammadu Buhari on July 16.
There have been several allegations of financial impropriety against NIMASA during Akpobolokemi’s tenure, including those which suggested the agency funded the lavish lifestyles of some Niger Delta militants and bankrolled most of the hate campaigns against Buhari in the run-up to the 2015 elections.http://shippingposition.com.ng/main-news/efcc-invites-tompolo-over-n13b-nimasa-land-scam
