Ogun Governor Gives Kudos To NAGAFF Over Olokola Free Trade Zone


The Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has commended the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) over the association’s commitment to the development of the maritime industry in particular, and the nation in general.
Governor Amosun gave this commendation on Friday while playing host to a delegation of NAGAFF which paid him a courtesy visit in his office at
Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta as part of the preparations for the association’s Annual General Meeting which will holds in Abeokuta from Friday December 6, to Sunday December 8, 2013.
The Governor who was delighted at the presentation by the delegation on the benefits of the Olokola Free Trade Zone to the development of the state pledged the support of his government to NAGAFF on the AGM and the project.
He said the presentation showed the depth of NAGAFF’s knowledge about the industry and the seriousness of its members in the task of moving the industry forward.  He used the occasion to assure investors that his government would encourage the development of all modes of transportation to boost the business of supply chain, and thanked NAGAFF for opening new frontiers in the discourse about the Olokola FTZ, which will incorporate a deep sea port.
Earlier in his presentation, the National President of NAGAFF, Chief
Eugene Nweke informed the Governor that NAGAFF chose Ogun State as the host of NAGAFF 2013 Annual General Meeting to focus the world’s attention on the economic benefits of the Olokola FTZ, which is ably complemented by specialized Ogun Rail Industrial FTZ and the Ogun Guandong FTZ.
To harness the full potentials of the FTZ, Chief Nweke advised the Ogun
State Government to pursue the acquisition of a certificate of status and recognition as an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) from the Nigeria
Customs Service by incorporating and using a subsidiary of the Olokola FTZ  to pursue large scale importation using the FTZ to warehouse such import.
NAGAFF’s 2013 AGM with the theme: “Free Trade Zone as a Catalyst For
International Trade Distribution and Networking” holds on Saturday
December 7, 2013 at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun
State.
Governor Amosun is expected to deliver the keynote address at the opening session of the AGM on Saturday December 7, 2013, while a University lecturer, Professor Iyiola Oni of University of Lagos is the Guest Lecturer.
