Boko Haram Threatens To Attack Apapa Port

‎The Nigerian Police Force has said that it has been issued threats by the dreaded Islamic extremist group; Boko Haram, saying that there is a plan by the group to invade Lagos State and that the seaports in Apapa and Tin Can Island Port are the main targets.

Commissioner of Police in charge of Western ports;  Mrs Hilda Ibifuro Harrison raised the alarm at a function in Lagos yesterday, saying that the police had receive an intelligent report and a message sent by the dreaded group threatening to bomb the Western ports.

She said that the threat had been issued since October 2014.

Ibifuro who was represented at the function by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Salem Amacheere‎, however said that the police is not un-mindful of the threats, even as she assured that the police have already beefed up security around the ports.

The commissioner cautioned stakeholders to ensure that the port access roads are free for movement and that there should not be congestion which has hitherto hindered free flow of traffic.

Ibifuro stated that, "We have had this threat a month before last, intelligent report had it that they were making plans to visit Lagos, with that information we are saying that we are having our eyes open to make sure that such a thing does not happen in Lagos or in the Western ports"

"We have beefed-up security and made sure that in case of such presence, they don't hit their target"

"If a mad man says he will stone you, or that he will throw stones at you, he either already has the stone with him or he is stepping on the stone, so you must not take the threats for granted and that is why you probably observed that we have beefed-up security to make sure that they do not get to their target, we hope the threat does not succeed in the port"‎ she stated.http://shippingposition.com.ng/article/boko-haram-threatens-attack-apapa-port
