The national president of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA); Prince Olayiwola Shittu has told members of the association to gird their loins in readiness for elections into the governing council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).
The ANLCA president gave the matching order in Port Harcourt, Rivers state last weekend at a meeting with members of the association in the eastern zone.
He called for mass mobilization of members of the association to contest every available seat, in order to redirect affairs in the CRFFN; the freight forwarding profession’s regulatory body.
The CRFFN governing council is yet to be reconstituted after the expiration of the two-year tenure of the council led by Alhaji Hakeem Olanrewaju and its subsequent dissolution by the Minister of Transport; Senator Idris Umar.
Prince Shittu, who was in Rivers state to open a new secretariat for the Onne chapter of the association, also informed his members that his working visit to the eastern ports is to feel the pulse of ANLCA members and hear their challenges during operations in the ports. In their responses, some of the members queried the relevance of the CRFFN in the activities of licensed customs agents in the port.
Other complaints bordered on the frequent breakdown of Customs server, attitudes of some Customs officers towards agents, the non-availability of the association’s biometric identity cards, among others.
The National President was quoted as noting that with the presence in the eastern zone of the trio of the: National Vice President of the association; Mr Kingsley Emenike Nwokeoji, the Chairman Board of Trustees ; Chief Henry Njoku and the immediate past President; Chief Ernest Elochukwu, there should be little or no challenges faced by members.
He assured that the issues of server downtime is being addressed with the service providers, even as he expressed optimism that soon, sanity will prevail, such that unnecessary demurrages will be avoided.http://shippingposition.com.ng/article/get-ready-crffn-elections-anlca-president-tells-members
