ELECTIONS: Fear Grips Lagos Tank Farms, Restricts Tanker Drivers Activities To 4pm

Following the electioneering activities in the country and the palpable anxiety of waiting for winner of the Presidential election, petroleum tank farms in Apapa, Lagos have been cautioned to restrict activities of tanker drivers.
Shipping Position Daily who visited the Ibafon axis of Apapa yesterday gathered that loading of fuel has now been restricted to 4pm until the 2015 elections are over.
It was gathered that the reason behind the new time of operation is to ensure that the petroleum tankers are not used as easy targets during feared post election crisis.
In a statement signed by General Manager, Emsee Shipping Line Limited, Mr. Victor Enebeli‎ which was sighted by ShippingPosition Daily, it said there is need to beef up security around the numerous tank farms in Lagos during the elections.
On the presidential and governorship elections‎, Enebeli said, "the security committee has agreed and directed that no truck or vehicle‎ should be parked around the complex by the end of operations between 27th March 2015 and April 10th 2015"
"Loading operations for those days will close by 4pm to allow for all trucks within the complex and on the access road to be evacuated" the statement reads.
‎According to Enebeli, the Presidential and Governorship elections comes up on 28th March and 11th April respectively, hence the need to beef up security at the complex during the election period.
He solicited the corporation of all unit chairmen of the Petroleum Tanker Driver branch of NUPENG to ensure that their members obey the new directive.
"We solicit the cooperation of your unit chairmen and taskforce to ensure that trucks are sent away from the setback to the complex and service lane to enable security personnel carry out their duty effectively‎" he said.http://shippingposition.com.ng/article/elections
