NIMASA Set To Launch On-Line Portal

Baring any last minute change, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) is expected to launch its newly created on-line data base this week.
Developed by an indigenous firm, the new platform incorporates all aspects of the agency’s activities and it is expected to serve as a first-hand solution provider for all enquiries about the agencies operations.
The elated chief executive officer of the firm who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent on Friday that it is the first of its kind in the history of the apex maritime regulatory agency.
When contacted for confirmation an equally elated director, maritime safety at NIMASA; Mr Vincent Udoye also told our correspondent that the new portal is already up and running. “The telephone calls have been pouring in since news filtered out about the portal”, he said.
Asked to talk about the advantages of the new on line data base, Udoye declined to give details, but hinted that it will be launched this week.
“It will reduce cases of forgery, for instance if anyone comes to your office and said that he  wants a job with a fake certificate , you can verify it on line by yourself without having to even come to NIMASA”, he disclosed.
He also added that the new data base will enhance the NIMASA registry, among other numerous advantages.
