The federal government said that it has adopted a public private partnership, PPP, strategy for the provision of vital transport facilities.
The partnership has also produced the expansion of terminals, new facilities at seaports and Inland Container Depots (ICDs).
This was disclosed yesterday by the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Engineer. Nebolisa Emodi at the flag- off of the technical session of the meeting of the 13th National Council of Transport in Lagos tagged, "Transformation of transport infrastructure: catalyst for

However, the Lagos state commissioner for transport, Kayode Opeifa has advised the Federal government to allow for state and private sector participation in the transport sector.
He also advised the government to review relevant acts that will give room for private and state participation.
"The inter and intra state water transport should be the exclusive preserve of the state government except when it borders on national security, but because of the NIWA and the Railway Acts, the waterways has been under utilized”, he argued.
The commissioner pointed out that if the Act is reviewed the water and rail transport will be more active than what is being experienced.
The Council meeting ends on Friday.
